After some research and testing, I have found the following games to be stimulating although fairly monotonous.

imperialages.com
slowly build up your city and army to conquer or defend

cybernations.net
Build a nation and watch it progress

tribalwars.net
Same as imperialages.com but more user friendly

cityempires.net
same as cybernations but more screen reader friendly

All of the above are browser based so just use your favorite one.
If anyone tries any of those, please post your opinions
I'm quite new at them so won't be able to provide much guideance.

Is Cyber Nations similar to the Nation States game? That is kind of cool but not really what I had in mind for a city game. For one thing, you don't really get to see your nation grow. You'll see changes as you make them, but once you make new ones, the old ones go away. Could never keep my interest. What I'd love to find is a virtual life game. Not the game called Life but one like the real world with a community and things to do. I know there's an amazing one out there but it's totally inaccessible.

Thanks for the links to the city simulation games! I'm now playing city empires. Building up the city is a bit tedious, but, it's just the sort of thing I was looking for. Have always wanted to play sim City or Civilization. I've joined a country (Dutch East India Company), but not done any trading just yet. I'm still in the slow growth phase, trying to optimize tax rate and expenses. Income seems to be a function of tax rate, population, and mayoral rating.

Ok I have a question, well actually a couple.
First are the actions in a game activated right away? Or do you have to wait a little while? What I mean is, if you build more buildings, and rais taxes does that stuff take effect right away, also How do I trade? I just joined today, so any hints would be nice.

Hi, Monkey

The changes take effect right away, but it may take a while to see their cumulative effect. When you view your city after making a change, all your variables will be immediately adjusted. Note that your city's actual income is tax-rate*citizen-income*population*mayoral-rating. Your expenses detailed in the city view, and include such things as the cost of soldiers and the maintanence of your buildings and infrastructure. I think you have to wait two weeks to start trading. Also, you have to build something that will give you trade slot; examples are railroads, highways, and power transmission lines. Have you joined a country yet? I suggest you do this soon.

Thank you for the help. I don't think my city is off to a good start. As I only have dollar 34.00 dollars. I spent my money a little on the foolish side. Anyways I hope things turn up soon. I raised taxes to %20

Ouch!

It's not like a New Hampshire yankee to be such a tax-and-spend pol; LOL!

What's your mayoral rating? Sounds like you are in the position I was once in. You don't even have enough cash to destroy some of that unnecessary stuff. Have you joined a country? You may have to ask for a bale-out.

Good Luck,

Dave Hunt (Lord Mayor of Twitterland)

Dave Do you have a city going. I really, really need the cash as some how I'm now in the negative as far as funs go for my city. What I'm wondering the delete city option, does that mean I can start over with a new city? After deleteing this one?

I have a city going very well, as I mentioned, I had to request an aid package. I think you can delete your city and start over if you like. Not sure whether they let you delete right away, or maybe there's a waiting period? Just try it. What's the name of your city? I may be able to give you some aid? Not sure.

Dave I actually just created a new city tonight. Its called jursey city I bought 55 points of infrostructure to start off with, raised taxes to %20 just like before. I didn't get any millitary, I did get two water pumps, and two wind turbines. I didn't buy a school though. This city looks better although I now only have $8000 after the purchases.

Good luck with Jursey City. Sounds like you'll have to let her grow a bit; not much spending money left. What's your mayoral approval rating?
